I have a tooth gap which is around 8mm wide. I really can’t do a mouth full of metal braces at my age. I looked into snap-on smile, but it turns out I’m not a good candidate for this procedure. I have an appointment with a Lumineers dentist coming up. Before I commit to anything I’d like to know if I’m overlooking something. I just want to not feel ashamed when I smile.
I’m very glad you wrote before making this decision. I’d like to discourage you from going through with Lumineers. The size of the gap between your teeth is enough to fit a whole other tooth. This will not look natural at all. Worse than that, you’ll have no recourse and will be stuck with an odd-looking smile.
The best thing to do is close the gap in your teeth. You don’t have to do that with traditional braces. You won’t have to have the mouth full of metal you are worried about.
There have been fantastic advancements in orthodontics in recent years. Now you can have your teeth straightened and gaps closed with Invisalign.
Instead of wires and brackets, like traditional braces, Invisalign uses clear aligners. The treatment plan is designed by advanced software. Clear aligners are created which you will wear for two-week periods of time as they gently guide your teeth into the next position. By the time you’re done with your aligners, your gap will be closed and your teeth will be straight.
A Mini Smile Makeover with Invisalign
There is one additional benefit to using these aligners. They can double as teeth whitening trays. This will allow you to straighten and whiten your teeth simultaneously. It’s like getting a mini smile makeover. You’ll also enjoy the fact that they work in half the time of traditional braces and costs significantly less than the Lumineers you were hoping to get. Thousands less.
