Can’t Find Medicaid Dentist
All the Medicaid dentists in my area say they’re full. No one else wants to take my family because of the Medicaid. What good does it to have this if we can’t get treatment? What are options? My children haven’t had dental care this year at all.
I’m sorry you’re having so much trouble finding a dentist who takes Medicaid. You’re wise to look for options, especially when it comes to dental care for your children.
Way too many parents just avoid the dentist and the first time their children get seen is during a dental emergency. This is not only more expensive for the parents, but it is traumatizing to the children.
Most adult dental anxieties stem from difficult and painful appointments in childhood. Getting them to the pediatric dentist before there’s a problem is very smart.
When You Can’t find a Medicaid Dentist
As it’s important to get dental care, the next option I’d look for is a dentist who advertises as an affordable dentist. These dentists are much more willing to work with patients on cost and payments.
I would simply call around to the different offices who specify they’re affordable and explain your situation. See how they’re willing to work with you to get the care you need for your children.
While you’re searching, you may want to take them to a local dental or hygienist school. Many of them offer very inexpensive cleanings and checkups.
It will at least get your children some basic care while you line up something more permanent for them.
